10 A.M. Sunday Breakfast

Posted on Sun 08/28/05 in South Florida

Beth and I were VERY hungry and went out to breakfast about 10am this morning. We checked out the following places before eating just after 11am:

  • Cracker Barrel (about 50 people waiting outside)
  • The Original Pancake house (about 30 people outside)
  • IHOP (we didn’t bother, because we figured it was just as bad)

... So we decided to head for the local bagel shops:

  • The big one in Cooper City (closed ‘till Monday)
  • Bagel Bar West (looked fine, except it was CASH ONLY, and we only had a combined $10. We went to the Publix ATM; it was “being serviced for 10 minutes.” But, how long has that message been on there? Probably longer than 10 minutes. So we went inside and bought a magazine and got cash back. By the time we got back to the resturant, there was a line out the door and everyone was complaining and comtemplating leaving. To spare us the same anguish, I proclaimed that I didn’t want to wait. Beth and our unborn child were getting a bit uneasy at this point. Should we continue to fight, or head for Publix again to gather ingredients for a home cooked meal? We trecked on.
  • Bagel Palace (harldy a wait to sit down, but it took a decent amount of time before we had our order taken. After ordering, the waitress asked if she could bring us the oatmeal first? I think she could see the frustration seeming out of our faces. It was deliecious and now we feel satisfied.

Moral: Don’t go to breakfast on Sunday at 10am. The saying “the early bird gets the worm” is true.
