I am craving Mamones Chinos, a small spiky-looking fruit found in Costa Rica. They are usually found red in color, but here is a picture of a yellow one:

The insides are grape-like and taste very sweet. They are about the size of a lemon and grow on trees. When I was in Costa Rica, these were great snacks while hiking or hanging out at the river or waterfalls. They are easy to find and sooooo delicious.
I have yet to find them in the USA.
I take that last statement back. I think the Lychee is quite similar. I’m going to check them out.
i just found your site because i’m trying to look for info on those fruits! i went to costa rica last summer and had some and just knew them as “hairy grapes”, so i searched google and found your site! if you ever find them, post it again and hopefully i will too!
