Only part of the read process memory or write process memory request was completed.
The above error occured while trying to copy an .EXE (executable) file from a burned CD on a machine running Windows XP Home.
As of now, Microsoft does not have a KB entry for this error; however, a Microsoft tech support agent emailed me the following solution to try:
=======================
Set the Transfer Mode to PIO Only:
1. Click Start and Run devmgmt.msc.
2. In Device Manager, click View, click Devices by connection.
3. Click to expand Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System ->PCI Bus ->Bus Master IDE Controller.
4. Click the option on the left of Primary IDE Channel.
5. Click the option on the left of Secondary IDE Channel.
6. Check to see which IDE Channel the CD-ROM drive is under.
7. Right click the IDE Channel which your CD-ROM drive connects to and click Properties.
8. On the Advanced Settings tab, change the Transfer Mode of the CD-ROM drive to PIO Only.
9. Then click OK and exit Device Manger.
10. Test to see if the issue is resolved.

I have not been able to verify if it works because the CD was no longer available to me when I showed up at the company to try the solution. They had copied the file to the hard drive and figured that would be enough. If the CD is returned to the company, I will attempt to test this solution. If anyone attempts this solution, please comment on its success. I would like to know if it works, and I’m sure Microsoft would also like to know.
