Last night Beth and I were watching Curb Your Enthusiasm, the HBO comedy TV show featuring and written by Larry David, the creator of eternally-referenced sitcom, Seinfeld.
Beth made a comment that the actress who plays Larry’s wife in the show looks like Brittney from Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. I looked at her dumbfounded, having only remembered The Chipmunks being a cartoon about the three chipmunks and the dad who occasionally showed his bottom half. I asked her, “Who is Brittney?!?!?!”
“Alvin’s girlfriend. They all had girlfriends and one was named Brittney.”
I had no recollection of this, which brings me to the substance of this article. I nearly INSTANTLY thought of hopping onto Google and finding the truth about The Chipmunks’ girlfriends. I didn’t though. I had an epiphany: I am going to resist the urge to Google. NO!!!! NOT ALL THE TIME!! I didn’t say that I’ve lost my mind… I just had an epiphany.
I’m not going to give up on finding out the truth about The Chipmunks, but I’m not going to Google for it. I’ll make this quest for knowledge a challenging one. I’ll seek out my friends who know the most meaningless trivia (you know who you are)... I’ll write a letter to the Cartoon Network (using Google, of course, to find the mailing address), or maybe I’ll go to the LIBRARY.
I declare that I will not always Google for an answer; rather, I will embrace knowledge for the journey its quest offers. I must keep my resourcefulness at the top of its game, and this will not come through keeping only one resource close by my side.
BTW, does anyone know the name of the actress I mentioned?
Realized subconcious inspiration from a commentary by Paul Ford, which I heard on NPR nearly a week ago:
Distracted No More: Going Back to Basics.

Why Google when you can Wikipedia?
The Chipmunks girlfriends were the Chipets.
Larry’s wife is Cheryl David, played by Cheryl Hines
Wikipedia is the coolest!
