Textpattern 4.0.2

Posted on Fri 12/16/05 in Technical Interleude

The site has made a few backend improvements that might not be realized by the general public, but they are visible to me.

We’ve upgraded to Textpattern 4.0.2, released about a month ago. It offers some excellent admin features and built in image manipulation functions: resizing images and making thumbnails. And although we haven’t installed the gdb extension for php to accomodate this yet, I can see the light.

Something that has been implemented is CLEAN URLS. This means that article urls can be named to incorporate the section and title of the article, instead of the plain numbering of article’s links. This is more asthestically pleasing, appeasing to search engines, and allows me to prepare many more categorical and sectional-oriented activities for the site (which depend on clean urls).

So, I’m excited.
